World Zakat Forum Continues Its Global Expansion With Two New Member Nations Emerging From Europe
The World Zakat Forum is the world’s premier Zakat forum for sovereign and specialist Zakat institutions alike, from across the world. Established in 2010 the forum has become the centre for thought leadership, innovation and public policy dialogue for legitimate Zakat specialists organisations serving across the world.
At the initiation stage this forum had only 9 members from Indonesia, Malaysia, Qatar, Kuwait, Turkey, England, Bahrain, Jordan, Sudan, and Saudi Arabia. Now alhamdulillah we have 35 member countries, including Bangladesh, Bahrain, Bosnia Herzegovina, Brunei Darussalam, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sudan, Uganda, United States of America, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Vietnam, Australia, Srilanka, Kazakstan, Ghana, Maldives, Senegal, Liberia, Togo, Benin, Cambodia, Sierra Leone and Russia.
Today, we are proud to announce we are marking the arrival of two new countries, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Nationaal Zakat Fonds from the Netherlands will be providing specialist Zakat services to the country, ensuring payers and claimants alike can better fulfil their obligations.
CEO, Imad El-Fadili, highlighted, ‘It is a pleasure to represent the Netherlands in such an illustrious forum. Working side by side with sovereign Zakat bodies of major countries, will expedite our learning and allow us to also share our experiences. Having spent recent years studying Islamic social finance and the vast expertise in Malaysia and Indonesia for example, sharing knowledge and governance policy with their Zakat bodies will be of major benefit’.
They are joined by Foundation Suisse Pour La Zakat in Switzerland which as one would expect have a similar focus and are eager to ensure the best and most efficient Zakat services for the Muslim community of Switzerland.
Chairman, Saad Dhif, was jubilant in saying, ‘In Switzerland we have enormous experience of managing wealth and providing governance support to the world, it is great now to add Zakat to the things that this country can be known for’.
